Sterling Silver on Ebay – a Bargain?

Further to my recent question on here about buying silver, I came across some items on ebay that were described as ‘Old Sterling silver bullion’, and from the Daqing Qianlong age. I worked out that the current spot price of silver would make the item worth around $64 US at the specified weight of 150 grams, and so was surprised to see a final selling price of around $20 inclucing freight.

My Q is: Where’s the catch?

The sellers have near 100% positive feedback, but my better half reckons they could be stooges – checkable on ebay I would think, though.

I’m not sure I am allowed to put up a link, but if anyone would care to search for ‘Chinese Old Sterling Silver“Buddha”Silver Bullion’ on ebay you will see the kind of item I have been looking at.

And whilst I’m at it, what’s the silver content of Sterling silver supposed to be? And is ‘Sterling’ synonomous with ‘925′

Thanks.
