generation phase or what? Are little kids being handed everything on a Silver Spoon or what lately?
I feel every where I go I see young parents being lazy with thier kids. Is it just me or do you see this yourself? It’s seeming to me to be like whatever makes the parents life easier is whats better for the family… Something new indeed; I remember a time when kids had “the wants” and the parent had to hear of it and lesson is learned. All the time nowadays I see young parents giving into what their kid wants and nothing is taught b/c of it. Am I wrong or does it seem as though true morals are absent or unsatisfactory in this generation of young parents today?
Yes, yes, yes. There are many reasons for it, though. Some is guilt (working parents not able to spend as much time with their kids so they make up for it with “stuff” or making the time they DO have as least-stressful as possible); tiredness (parents at the end of a long day don’t have the energy to argue with their kids about right and wrong); their own experiences (I want to do everything for my kids because no one ever did for me); desire to be their kid’s best friend (not a parent, but a friend)… the reasons are endless.
It’s not just young parents today though; it’s people under pressure everywhere, and people who were not given the proper upbringing themselves. You can’t do what you’ve never experienced unless you work really hard at it. And yes, some of it is general laziness– the “me” generation instead of the “we”– there’s a lot of malaise in the world, some people don’t respond well to it.
But don’t worry; there are just as many parents who’ll hold their children to good moral standards and not hand them everything, as well!
