the civic ek9 (technically chassis is ek9, not car) stopped production in 2000, and it was the first type-r honda produced. they only come in black and white (90% ive seen are white) although people may have them resprayed various colours. it uses the B16B engine. its a 1.6 DOHC (double-overhead cam) VTEC (variable valve timing and lift electronic control) and puts out 185bhp standard and rev limit is 9000rpm!. the honda b-series are great engines, the B16B in the ek9 is the most powerful normally aspirated production 1.6 engine in the world! and is a tweaked improved version of the already great B16A2 found in 96-00 ek vti (si in US).
you can still buy one, although they are hard to come by, especially in malaysia as they are import only outside of japan and not a huge number were made. they were only ever originally sold in japan. you can expect to pay around £5000-6500 for a clean example with around 60,000 miles on the clock. try ebay or try and see if there are any import companies/garages around your area, or you can buy one and have it imported yourself (depending on your local laws regarding vehicle importing, they are right hand drive only) also it would be costly do do so. i live in london and know of a couple that come down my local meets so they are about. -just make sure it is genuine if you buy-there are a lot of replicas about. sure way to tell is ONLY type-r has 5-stud wheel hubs.
