Silver Sugar Bowl
Would my Silver Plated Tea Set be safe to use?
I’ve just bought a silver-Plated Tea service from a charity shop. It is electro plated silver and still in reasonably good condition, the plating has worn off in several places on the outside but this doesn’t concern me too much. However on the inside there are a few stains, scratches and what looks like some corrosion, especially on the inside of the Milk Jug and Sugar Bowl. I have tried the cleaning method where you fill the set with a mix of boiling water and baking soda but this doesn’t seem to have removed the marks.
I would like to be able to actually use the set, would this be safe to do (without poisoning myself and others!) or would I have to have it professionally cleaned or have the inside resurfaced before use? Also, what would be the best way to clean the spouts of the tea and coffee pots – I was thinking maybe a bottle brush?
