Silver Pickle
is there much difference between a rice cooker and a slow cooker. i want to use it for soldering pickle?
i have heard that a lot of people use a slow cooker to keep their pickle warm, but i can only find big ones. i have recently found a nice small rice cooker and was wondering if i could use it instead. i don’t really know what i need as i am new to this silver solder thing. i don’t want to get a rice cooker and have the pickle explode or something, any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks
A rice cooker is made with more intricate parts and is made to only boil water, and even then, it will only boil it for a short time. it will keep it warm, but it probably won’t last. My guess is that the pickle will corrode the mechanism inside of the rice cooker that keeps it “on” and it won’t last long. Besides, the bowl on the inside is usually made of aluminum, and even with a non stick coating is a no no with pickle. The nonstick coating will not last, and then the aluminum will contaminate your pickle, making the pot useless for making rice/food and useless for pickling.
You’re much better off using a crockpot/slow cooker, as they have glazed stoneware containers that won’t contaminate your pickle or corrode. Try the link to Amazon I posted in the source. It will be just the right size for a budding silversmith.
