Walked away today,
life, memory, and pursuit,
left in the gutter like paper napkins,
fast-food Deity and rechargeable batteries…

I need more.

Ran hand through flames.
Blisters char away the skin,
shiny scar, mirror projection,
soot-stained silver, tarnished reflection.

Bells ring my mind,
aneurysmic pressure ready to kill,
fatal moment of prophesied peace and earth beneath
erupting…

Song made diamond,
hard, cold, distant distant melody.
Pulsing beat and glass against my fist,
ricochet and rhapsody and loss.

Not of me,
broken fingers grasp a promise,
easy yoke and burden light,
desert island with a Name and nothing more.
