How to stop my birds from pooping on their basket?
I have three silver bill finches. They have this wicker basket filled with grass and timothy hay that hangs on the side of their cage and they often sleep in this basket. But they also love to jump on it and perch themselves on it and poop all over it. They’re pooping all over their wicker basket house!!! It’s nasty and annoying. I’m getting tired of cleaning it every time they poo on it. What can I do!?!?
Hang it higher in the cage so they can’t perch on top of it, or remove it all together. Finches do not need a nest to sleep in, in the wild they only use nest during breeding season, so unless you are trying to breed them the nest is not necessary.
Also just a note finches most often do best in even numbers.
