Plaque Tipped Large

What should I do to get rid of some yellowy looking plaque/tartar on my dog’s teeth?
My golden retriever is about 1 and a half (born in february) and she has started to get a little bit of yellow tartar/plaque on the back large molars in her teeth. She hates toothpaste and it’s really hard to brush her teeth, so I only do it a few times. I think i’ve only done it 3 or 4 times since I got her last April. Anyways, all her other teeth are white and shiny, but I just don’t know what to do to get rid of the yellow stuff. I don’t want it to progress; my friend’s dog now has tooth decay and smells really when she breathes on you. And my parents FORGOT to ask the dog cleaners to brush her teeth, so I don’t want to wait several more months to ask them again, giving more time for the yellowness to get worse. Any thoughts or tips?
raw meaty bones will help clean the teeth and scrape away the excess tarter/plaque. there are lots of dental bones and chews which help, but only minimally. the other option is getting it cleaned by a vet.
