Good place in LA Jewelry District for engagement ring settings?
I’m looking to get a white gold solitaire engagement ring made for my girlfriend. I already have a diamond, so I just need the setting/mounting. Based on people’s experiences in the Los Angeles Jewelry District, what places would you recommend for buying the setting and getting the ring mounted?
I bought, separately, the ring and diamond for my wife at farrah’s jewelry. It’s a small, family-run, business on Broadway. I was really happy with the experience, John actually walked me across the street to the place so I could watch them resize the ring and set the diamond. They are old family friends of one of my coworker, so I may have gotten a little extra attention, but maybe not.
Between the time I bought the ring and diamond they moved to a slightly larger booth at the mart, which gave them more room to display items. The first time I was there, they didn’t have a Very Large selection, but they had books of many designs which they can make. From all the places I had been, they were on the cheap end on pricing.

Also, the parking lot on their block is kind of expensive… I think it cost me about $20 when I waited for the mounting/sizing. try one of the flat-rate lots, or park at Pershing Square if you’re going to walk around a bit… and be careful once you get the ring. It’s a bit shady on some of the streets.
