Pastry Serving Knife

sociaaly stigmatised words – please help a foreigner ….?
Hello I read the following passage for a essay I have to write and, as a foreigner, I just don’t know which words are stigmatised and how…
could you help me, at least for a few words?
John Betjeman contributed the following poem where virtually EVERY word is socially stigmatised:
How To Get On In Society
Phone for the Fish Knives, Norman
As cook is a little unnerved;
You kiddies have crumpled the serviettes
And I must have things daintily served.
Are the requisites all in the toilet?
The frills round the cutlets can wait
Till the girl has replenished the cruets
And switched on the logs in the grate.
It’s ever so close in the lounge dear,
But the vestibule’s comfy for tea
And Howard is riding on horseback
So do come and take some with me
Now here is a fork for your pastries
And do use the couch for your feet;
I know that I wanted to ask you-
Is trifle sufficient for sweet?
Milk and then just as it comes dear?
…
To further understand “stigmatized” words, look up “Black English” and you’ll get a better idea. All it really means is changing the original word with either its’ spelling, or pronunciation or using the word for an alternate meaning, other than its’ original intention.
How to Get on in Society could be restated, in proper English to:
The Proper Rules of Etiquette
Get me the sharp utensils, Norman,
This cook is somewhat upset!
The children have disarranged the napkins,
And I need the table perfectly set!
Are the details beyond all repair?
Set aside any fussing for now,
Until the server has refilled all condiments,
And the fireplace has been stoked and aired.
It’s too humid in the salon, dear,
But the lobby is a more comfortable place to be,
Howard is out doing equestrian riding,
So come sip some tea with me.
Now here is a utensil for your desserts,
And feel free to put your feet up,
I have been meaning to ask you –
If trifle would meet your need for something sweet?
Would you like milk or plain tea all by itself, dear?
I’m native English and that’s the meaning I get out of all that! Hope it helps!
