Oneida Silver Plate
When silver plate wears off cutlery revealing brass underneath, are these cutlery pieces worth keeping?
Make is Oneida (from a full set) Supposedly 50 year guarantee providing they are only washed with soft cloth!
To be honest I use washing up liquid and non scratch scourer so I guess I have not adhered to recommendation under guarantee.
Are these worn pieces worth keeping? Or worth any real money value once silver worn away?

I think the base metal is brass – it does look that colour and tone – I will have to contact manufacturer re safety using the worn utensils – mean time I’ll have to revert to other.
By what you say, you haven’t followed the stipulations for the guarantee to be effective, so either get them electroplated or pitch to Goodwill. You can really shine them up by filling the sink with “Tide” detergent and placing each pc. on a flat shiny side up sheet of aluminum foil, making sure they aren’t touching. soak for as long as you can. Rinse and dry with soft towel. no rubbing required! Of course, it won’t replace what has gone. You can replace with nice designed stainless and not worry anymore. Good luck
