Should Nazi War criminals be put on trial in 2010?
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. Speaking to the German Parliament, Israeli President Shimon Peres said some of those responsible for the perpetration of the Holocaust are still alive, and asked:”My request of you is: Please do everything to bring them to justice.”
These terrible events took place more than 60 years ago, and any of those who were involved who are still alive will be elderly and probably very frail. Is it time to give up on the hunt for Nazi war criminalls, or does justice demand they should be pursued right up until the day they die?
Should Nazi war crime ‘suspects’ be put on trial in 2010?(Surely)
My only problem with this is what if the person being put on trial is not the war criminal he’s accused of being.Don’t get me wrong.If he his then he should fry but if not, chances are it’ll be some extremely old,probably very frail and most likely doting pensioner going through a horrendous procedure that could well be the death of him.I can’t see any way round it sadly.War crimes have to be prosecuted.
