Do British people want the Death Penalty back?
Thats what I just put in the google search engine, the top result says 99% of Sun reader want it.
The Sun is Britain’s most popular newspaper….but because there is topless woman on the third page some will argue.

I started a thread on a Pagan forum sometime ago and got a very mixed reception.
My own view….The Death Penalty isn’t wrong, hanging is too good for some criminals even, the Wolf pit would be better!
Alas, I don’t trust the Courts and for good reason.
Many people who would have been hung in the past have had to be released this past twenty years as new evidence and things like DNA have made it clear they were not guilty.
I say no….but only because I don’t trust the Courts.
I wonder what British people here think, and everyone else for that matter?
some british people do but i dont. one good thing about britain is that, like much of the world, we’ve turned our back on the death penalty. there are loads of reasons for opposing the death penalty, one of them being its not an effective deterrent (compare murder rates for US states that have the death penalty with those that dont).

another reason is look at the remaining places that use it often – texas, iran, pakistan, china, saudi arabia. 21st century britain shouldnt be having the same thoughts about the death penalty as those places

Since 1973, over 130 people have been released from death rows throughout the country due to evidence of their wrongful convictions. In 2003 alone, 10 wrongfully convicted defendants were released from death row.
you have to ask yourself, how would you feel if an innocent member of your family was executed? guildford four? birmingham six?
