Casserole Spoon
Sensitive gag reflex or picky eater?!?!?
My 7 month old has what I think is a very sensitive gag reflex…she projectile vomits anything that she does not like-prunes, bananas, tylenol, pureed nectarines, watermelon. Even just dipping the spoon in the nectarines and giving her a little taste made her gag and then vomit. I tried giving her zwieback toast and she liked that until she got a little piece of it in her mouth…then she gagged but didn’t vomit. I’m really worried that she won’t take well to finger foods (which i’m not pushing-just concerned) when the time comes.
I’m so afraid to try anything new in fear that she will vomit…which is awful to watch let alone be a little baby experiencing it. Right now, all she can stomach is apples & cheeries, apples & bananas for fruit but will eat any vegetables except sweet corn casserole-all stage 2. She also has oatmeal cereal for breakfast.
Does anyone have any experience with babies who do this? Any suggestions or advice? Sensitive gag reflex or picky eater?
Introducing new foods is appropriate because it helps develop healthy eating habits, but first have her evaluated by a doctor to rule out any physical problems.
